Film Festival Screens Youth-Theme Shorts

Admission Free For The First Time

As part of the 2011 Pittsburgh International Lesbian & Gay Film Festival, a collection of youth-theme short movies will be screened at the SouthSide Works Cinema on Saturday, October 22 at Noon.

Best of all --- the admission will be free!

These short films have been selected for their appeal to teens and young adults, including college students. They include:

"10,000 Hearts" (USA; 2010; 15 Minutes). A quiet and painfully shy sophomore, Nate is forced into artistic servitude by his overbearing half-sister until he meets Logan, an attractive and charming upperclassman.

"Franswa Sharl" (Australia; 2010; 14 Minutes). Adorable 12-year old Greg has inherited his father's competitive streak, but the contest he's trying to win isn't the one his father had in mind

"Henry & Anthony" (USA; 2010; 20 Minutes). In order to understand each other, a father and son must find a way to meet somewhere in the middle.

I Don't Want To Go Back Alone" (Brazil; 2011; 17 Minutes). This tender little film is about a blind school boy who develops a crush on a new student in his class. In Portuguese with English subtitles

Loop Planes" (USA; 2010; 12 Minutes). Thirteen-year-old Nick can be himself working with his dad at the amusement park, but he goes on the ride of his life when both his mother and a pretty pink haired girl show up.

"Revolution" (USA; 2010; 15 Minutes). This film is a story about a 16-year old Iranian boy in 1989 Los Angeles who stages his own small revolution within his traditional family.

The Pittsburgh Lesbian & Gay Film Society is an all-volunteer organization with an active board of directors and a few small but active committees. Our mission is to celebrate lesbian, gay, bisexual & transgender culture and foster appreciation and visibility through film media. Founded in 1985, the Film Society produces one of the world's oldest LGBT film festivals every October. For more information, visit www.plgfs.org
