Men's Shorts Program Part Of Festival

Tales Involving Gay & Bisexual Men

On Tuesday, October 18 at 7:30 p.m., the Pittsburgh International Lesbian & Gay Film Festival screens a terrific collection of short movies geared for gay and bisexual men at the SouthSide Works Cinema.

Under the title "His Shorts," these little films include

"Baldguy" (Norway; 2011; 12 Minutes). This topsy-turvy musical takes place on the streets of a Norwegian town when a son comes home to tell his parents about the guy he's just snogged. In Norwegian with English subtitles

"Bedfellows" (USA; 2011; 15 Minutes). Narrated in the style of an old children's fairy tale but set against the modern-day backdrop of New York, this film follows the adventure of 20-something Bobby as he returns to the gay bar where he got his heart broken for the first time. Upon meeting and spending the night with an attractive stranger named Jonathan, Bobby dreams about what a lifetime relationship with him could be like --- a 30-year journey of ups & downs in life and love

"Blink" (US; 2010; 8 Minutes). This powerful documentary explores how professional New York photographer Russ Osterwell used his artistry to record his near-death bout with Kaposi's Sarcoma, an AIDS-related illness.

"Franswa Sharl" (Australia; 2010; 14 Minutes). Adorable 12-year old Greg has inherited his father's competitive streak, but the contest he's trying to win isn't the one his father had in mind.

"I Don't Want To Go Back Alone" (Brazil; 2011; 17 Minutes). This tender little film is about a blind school boy who develops a crush on a new student in his class. In Portuguese with English subtitles.

"Spring" (UK; 2011; 13 Minutes). Witness a dramatic and erotic encounter between two men with very different desires --- after which nothing is the same.

"A Word" (Israel; 2010; 19 Minutes). This film is an achingly beautiful story of the handsome Ron, who is not convinced that love is all it's cracked up to be. In Hebrew with English subtitles.

The Pittsburgh Lesbian & Gay Film Society is an all-volunteer organization with an active board of directors and a few small but active committees.
